I’ve spent my entire career at the intersection of industry and academia. I thrive on the blend of fast-paced, market-driven research and innovation in industry with the long-term focus of academic research. It’s fulfilling to find the perfect synergy that leads to joint projects, facilitates mobility between the two sectors, and inspires new academic courses and student projects—a true symbiosis between industrial and academic stakeholders.

Often, my role has involved fixing relationships that lack true collaboration. I’ve frequently wondered why we invest hundreds of thousands in research projects without educating stakeholders on effective collaboration and understanding the needs of both academic and industrial sectors. In 2019, I was tasked by my former employer to support Industrial Ph.D. students within the company. After engaging with them to understand their needs, the concept for Sweden’s first industry-driven research school emerged. We successfully operated the research school until I moved on to a new venture. Meanwhile, the Royal Institute of Technology invited me to create a condensed version as a course for faculty, post-graduate students, and industrial members of a center of excellence.

I believe we need a deeper understanding of bridging the gap between academia and industry. This led me to apply for an Adjunct Professorship at the Royal Institute of Technology, a position I began in April. My goal is to educate post-graduates on thriving in the industry and fostering collaboration between academia and industry despite organizational differences. Over the years, I’ve developed courses with experts on building and leading learning teams in cross-organizational settings, achieving sustainable high performance, excelling as educators and communicators, and contributing to sustainability, innovation, strategy, and culture in transforming organizations. These courses are tailored for scientists in, or entering, the industry, aiming to enhance the value of industrial scientists.

The courses are designed as modules, available for postgraduate students, industry professionals, or customised company programs. Contact me to learn more.
